1st Bihar Diwas: A new dawn!!

Never in the 98 years of History of Bihar, where I was born and nurtured; has the commemoration of the state been observed, let alone a celebration at such a large scale, globally. And this probably is the awakening of the "Bihari"; a creed that has been so prominent to the nation, and yet so ignored.

This could be a moment of the development of the sub-nationalism of Bihar, a thread that shall bind all of the land. Already, the past few years have given the residents and the non-residents of this state a reason to walk with the head held high.

It seems so unbelievable, that one of the center of administration and trade, till the early 20th century; how could a province was left so behind, when its counter-parts grew steadily. It may be attributed to shallow politics, and negligent behaviour of the concerned authorities.

In the able hands of Mr Nitish Kumar, the mass of bihar has been finding solace and security. The past five years have seen a development in the infrastructure of transportation, and Law & Order; which in the CM's words is the basic foundation for the future construction of the State. The next step for the step, in the 2nd tenure of the NDA government has been the Education and the Health infrastructure. The begining has been done this Bihar Diwas, with the launch of 'Nayee Peedhi Swasthya Guarantee Karyakram'( the New Generation Health Guarantee Programme), which calls for the children upto 14 years and adolescent girls be provided with a health card for their medical check-up and treatment free-of-cost at government hospitals.

The only thing we can say for our state is, "better late than never". The old educational hub of Bihar shall once again rise from the ashes and will enlighten the world with the golden glaze of this land of Buddha and Mahavira. What we have seen in past few years is just the beginning.

The "Bihar Diwas" is nothing less than a Rekindled Glow of a Lost Glory. The supply of fresh air shall see the Torch of Progress and Development in the Land of Mauryas, and the Guptas.

World Poetry Day, just Another Day in the Life of An An Artist

A bit late for this article, but better late than never. So day before yesterday, it was 12th World Poetry Day, as declared by UNESCO in 1999 "to give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements"

Well, the requirement of the celebration of a World Poetry Day, is similar to that of International Labour day, World Women's day, and so on. Yeah, Valentine's Day and Friendship Day fall in the same category. It is just a day to make those so diligently engrossed in daily chorus, realize, that there are certain things, that have attained a special character and importance for our lives, and we are so used to these that, their absence would just make the life impossible.

Poetry has been one of the most common form of expression through the history. The most ancient texts available to the man-kind has been recited in the form of poetry. The Odyssey, The Illiad, the Mahabharatha, the Vedas, the Ramayana, the Zend Avesta; all of them. Even today, the best of expressions in the literary world have come in the same form.

The best music, dance, and yeah, dialogues of dramas and movies comes poetically. And yeah, Poetry has evolved so much in the past, that one can define almost anything a Poetry.. That is the magic of a Verse.

Thus, as an artist myself, i cannot undermine the importance of poetry in life. And most of my friends shall accept this fact.

The World cup: A Victory of Cricket

Hmmmmphh.. A superb match it was. Because every other ball, I kept expecting a sudden change of fate and the collapse of the Pakistani Batting Line Up. A true ODI.

What a world cup it has been, a huge relief to the ICC after the shameful affair of 2007 at West Indies. And the doomsayers of the ODIs can eat their words, after the upsets and interesting matches of the League Stage of this tournament. Tomorrow, the last two matches are to be played, and still the fixture of the knock-outs is not decided.

The most interesting part has been evident in the Group 'B', termed the Group of death, and the Group of Death it has proved to be. England loses to minnows Bangladesh and Ireland, but manages a win against South Africa, who end up at the top of the table. South Africa can hold their nerves against India, but lose it to the English. The Windies trounce the Bangladesh, but have not shown the guts against any of the higher tiered ones. And last, the Indians have managed to overcome the hiccups to stay at the second position. The best part was the India-England Tie and the Irish putting a hold to the English, that too chasing a huge total.

Cricket has always been termed the game of incertainties. But, Aussies; since the time I began understanding it, have had so dominated over it. And especially, when was the last time they lost in a WC!! If you cannot remember it, it was against Pakistan, in 1999 WC, England. And the Kangaroos avenged that defeat then and there, and by trouncing them.

Since, India lost to them in 2003 WC finals, I doubt any true Indian supporter might have wanted the Aussies to see winning any single match. But today, I think most of us were looking forward to see them win, as none of us want the Men in Blue clash the Aussies in the knock-out stage, as the best predictable permutation suggests.

As far as cricket is concerned, this world cup of 2011 has been the best advocate of true cricketing spirit, and the game itself, especially the ODIs. I hope, the supporters of 'Scrap-ODI-Theory' shall stop buzzing around for a while.

Global Economy after Japan Quake

It has been three days since the tsunami hit the pacific. Now, when the third largest economy of the world is swallowed by a disaster awhole, it is believed unanimously that it would surely affect the global economy.

The first and the foremost impact visible to the world is the dip in international price of crude oil. With speculations of Japan staying 'out-of-action' for next few months, the international Energy Agency had marginally reduced its global oil demand forecast for 2011.

Following the quake, the Yen lost value soon, as can be the speculations, but pretty soon, it rose higher to what it was before the disaster. It is similar to what happened after the massive Kobe Earthquake(1995) when the Japanese Government, the companies and the investors sold overseas assets and brought money back home.

For the rebuilding of the nation, the money needed might be collected through US treasury bonds, a very likely source, of which Japan is a major holder; pressurizing the already straining US public finances.

The above measures, if taken, are likely to affect the global economy in a detrimenting way; and maybe we should get ready for a financial meltdown, very similar to those fuel rods in the nuke reactors of Japan; resulting into a chain reaction spreading across the Globe..

Krishna- A godly figure, or The God himself?

The Lord Krishna has been regarded the best politician of Indian myths, and also of history, if you regard him as part of it.

Well, yes, the lord, is none other than one of the kings, who played part in the famous Mahabharata war, and without fighting it himself, directed its course in such a manner, so as to destroy all powerful states; leading to a unified, though daunted India.

According to ShriKrishnaDwaipayan Ved Vyas, The lord deserves a place higher than normal humans; surely because of his powers to conjure miracles, moulding peoples' actions, and creating an enigma around his own actions.

Sure, to regard him a God isn't difficult. Ain't it? But he is a God, just the way Gods have emerged through history. The people who are powerful enough, and those whose actions we are unable to comprehend, we deem them The God. There is no other reason, most of the civilizations through the world have seen Gods in form of the king, or the queen. Be it Islam, Christianity (Jesus was the king of Jews), ancient mythological stories and so on. Even Buddha and Mahavira were from the royal families. And of course, Hinduism has always welcomes any infringement to its entity by assimilating it into itself. The clear evidence is acceptance of Buddha as one of the 24 avatars of Vishnu.

Thus, it is upto us, whether we imbibe the wisdom of Gita, the sayings of a wise and powerful king from the past, or just idolate it and learn nothing from it. The option is before us, and every wise man has its own followers. Sure Gita can teach us a lot.

Japan: calm through Calamities

The first post of this blog of mine, comes when the world witnesses one of the biggest calamities of recent times. Sure, the small group of islands is constantly hit with earthquakes, but the devastating magnitude(8.9) was seriously unprepared for. Lucky, it did not hit the land.

We, as Indians, came to know of the term TSUNAMI, 1st in 2004; when the Indian Ocean catastrophe impacted through the southern region of our nation. This was recorded at the richter scale of 9.0. But Japan has been witnessing tsunamis since time immemorial alongwith their neighbors. And their lies the blessings of the Calm Budhha; in the land of the rising sun. The constant earthquakes have made the infrastructure of the real-estate, a mandatory strengthened to stand through earthquakes of much higher intensity that have frequented the nation. And here is the clear example of what preparedness can do. An earthquake of much lesser magnitude might have devastated the full cities of Mumbai and Delhi; where quality in construction has been maintained(??).

As if the quake wasn't enough; the nuke radiation leakage adds to the woes of this little nation of Asia . The Japan government fears more leakages from plants; which may lead to heavy meltdown. About 200,000 people are estimated to be affected by the leakages alone; in addition to those hit by the quake and the tsunami.

But, in all, we believe that Japan has survived several disasters, including the Hiroshima and the Nagasaki; and hopefully this catastrophe is not going to change much of this nation of small people but valorous hearts.
